After the completion of the 2013 MLL Supplemental Draft on Wednesday, all teams had the opportunity to select an additional number of players from the league player pool in order to build their preseason rosters out to the 40-man maximum. The Charlotte Hounds chose five players – all with local ties to the community – to extend their preseason roster to 36. Those players include midfielders Andrew Tanneberger, Tom Harris and Nick Desper and defensemen Spencer Wims and Ben Love.
Tanneberger is a Charlotte native who attended Charlotte Latin High School before playing collegiately at the Univ. of Delaware. Harris, a Univ. of Hartford graduate, is the co-Owner of Charleston, S.C.-based Lowcountry Lacrosse as well as Greenville, S.C.-based Top Left Lacrosse. Desper, originally from Chapel Hill, N.C., played two seasons of lacrosse at Catawba College before transferring to Syracuse Univ. He lives in Charlotte and is the Director of Athletic Performance for Team 24/7 Lacrosse. Wims, a Limestone College graduate, appeared in five games for the Hounds in 2012. He is the Assistant Men’s Lacrosse Coach at Belmont Abbey College. Love, who attended Roanoke College, currently lives in Charlotte and volunteers with the Southpark Youth Lacrosse Association. He appeared in two games for the Hounds last season.
All players on the Hounds’ preseason roster will be invited to training camp at the beginning of April. MLL teams must narrow their preseason rosters down to 25 active players and six practice squad players by the start of the '13 regular season.
