Major League Lacrosse today announced that Charlotte Hounds attackman Eric Lusby has been named the “Cascade MLL Rookie of the Week,” for the final week of the 2012 regular season.
Playing in just the second game of his MLL career, Lusby contributed three goals to Saturday’s 15-14 win over the Rochester Rattlers at American Legion Memorial Stadium. All three of his goals came in the game’s first half.
Lusby was acquired by the Hounds in June, after he led Loyola Univ. Maryland to its first NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse title. The attackman set an NCAA Tournament record by scoring 17 goals in four games, and was named the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.
Lusby made his professional debut Week 12, scoring a goal against the Lizards on Long Island.
This is the first time Lusby has earned a weekly award, and he becomes the third Hounds player this season to be honored by the league. Matt Danowski was named “Offensive Player of the Week” in Week 9 and Josh Amidon earned the same award Week 3.
Saturday’s 15-14 win over the Rattlers wrapped up a 5-9 inaugural season for the Charlotte expansion team.

| I'm surprised it took this long for him to be recognised as a top line lacrosse player. |
