What is your favorite holiday movie?
Stephen Berger (M) – Home Alone, Miracle On 34th St. and White Christmas
Kyle Wimer (M) – Ernest Saves Christmas
Kevin Kaminski (M) – Christmas Vacation. Uncle Eddy is one funny guy!
Mark Manos (G) – Christmas Vacation
Casey Cittadino (M) – A Christmas Story. But I never get to watch it start to finish. Since it’s usually shown as a marathon I just get bits and pieces.
Peet Poillon (M) – Home Alone
Jovan Miller (M) – Anything Charlie Brown. He’s just the man.
Matt Danowski (A) – Four way tie: Christmas Vacation, Home Alone, Love Actually and Elf.
Joe Vitale (M) – Has to be either Elf or The Grinch, Jim Carey and Will Ferrell are classic.
Brett Schmidt (D),
Gerry Reilly (M),
Joe Cinosky (D),
Ricky Pages (D) and
Jerry Ragonese (FO) all chose Elf **
Do you have a favorite holiday song?
Ragonese – The Grinch
Manos – Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
Schmidt – Jingle Bells
Kaminski – Anything with Justin Timberlake in it.
Wimer – Santa Clause Is Coming To Town, Jackson 5 version
Reilly – Santa Clause Is Coming To Town, Bruce Springsteen version
Vitale – Tough one, but I’m going with the original Rudolph the Red Nosed Raindeer
Berger - Rocking Around The Christmas Tree, White Christmas (Home Alone version) and All I Want For Christmas by Mariah Carey
Cinosky also all mentioned Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas **
Are there any special traditions between your family and/or friends?
Reilly – Secret Santa between my five sisters and me.
Vitale – Christmas Eve is the big one because I have a big Italian family. Everyone comes to my parents house and we do the big fish dinner there.
Berger – We always play a White Elephant game at our work party, and we do one Christmas Day at my Aunt’s house with the whole family.
Kaminski – My friends and I play Secret Santa. That usually goes over well.
Miller – I’m still the first to wake the house up and bother them about Santa and all the presents he gave me.
Manos – Every Christmas Eve we go to my Aunt Mar and Uncle Doc’s house for a family party and dinner. Every Christmas morning my mom makes her famous caramel ring and Dorothy’s eggs.
Ragonese – Family goes to my parents’ house on Christmas Eve and on Christmas it’s to Grandmother’s house we go.
What is the best (or most memorable) gift you’ve ever received?
Poillon – An erector set when I was a little kid. I played with that a ton, putting together battery-powered little cars and anything else I could think of.
Pages – When I was little Hungry, Hungry Hippos was my jam! Still love that game.
Cittadino – One gift in particular that was given to me by my father was a large buck knife. But what made it so funny was that my brother who usually got the exact same gifts as me got a turkey wing. To this day we always joke about the knife and the turkey wing.
Berger – I got a tournament table back in the day. And can’t forget the Starter jackets and of course my first Cascade helmet on Christmas!
Ragonese – I got a pretty sweet drum set when I was 13.
Cinosky – My Jeep Wrangler junior year of high school.
Vitale – I’m a big sneakerhead, so I think it would have to be two years ago when my crazy aunt waited on line for me to get the Jordan 11s. It’s not so much how rare the shoes are, but the fact she was willing and did wait on line for me.
Danowski – Still waiting for my gift of world peace to come through…
Manos – Last year my family got a new dog, Hunter.
Schmidt – I’m not really sure, but I love opening stockings much more than opening presents.
Wimer – Onsie pajamas from my sisters. I wear them every Christmas Eve.
Kaminski – An N64 with Goldeneye and NFL Blitz.
Miller – I received seasons 3 and 4 of my favorite show, The Office. I now own all the seasons, but my parents really were paying attention. (Shedding a tear now just thinking about it).
How about the worst gift you’ve ever received?
Schmidt – There are no bad gifts.
Reilly – Skinny jeans last year.
Cittadino – One year I mentioned that I wanted a few new sweaters. And literally every gift I received from my family was a sweater. It was horrible.
Kaminski – When I was seven, my Grandfather said, “Merry Christmas, now get a job!”
Cinosky – A Backstreet Boys CD.
Pages – Any type of clothes that I was not happy with.
Ragonese – My mom has individually wrapped double-A batteries as a gift.
Wimer – I can’t say, they might read this and have their feelings hurt.
Danowski – Socks from my Aunt Bo.
Berger – A fake lottery ticket that I thought was real!
Manos – A leather jacket that made me look like Danny from Grease.
What is the best gift you’ve ever given?
Poillon – I write a nice letter to my parents every year. They always seem to appreciate that more than whatever actual gift I give.
Cittadino – When my brother was 15 he wanted a paintball gun and my parents told him they would not buy it for him. So I bought it for him. He was so excited and my parents were not. Haha.
Ragonese – Adventures of Bill Murray coloring book.
Manos – I gave a new blanket to my youngest sister when she lost hers on a family trip to New York City.
Berger – My sister gave my dad a puppy one Christmas Eve that was from the family.
Pages – Got my sister a Whoopie Cushion a long time ago.
Cinosky – Love.
Kaminski – King Of Queens DVD set to my dad. Gotta love Kevin James.
Do you have any resolutions for the New Year?
Schmidt – Stay healthy, happy and make it the best one yet.
Miller – Stop eating fast food so frequently. I used to eat it five times a week. If I can cut down to twice a week, I’ll be golden. Another is to continue my graduate school studies with flying colors.
Reilly – Bring a championship to Charlotte.
Wimer – Continue improving as an individual and help our youth players strive to reach their own potential.
Kaminski – Just keep on keepin’ on (Joe Dirt).
Vitale – To stay healthy and excel at whatever I am doing, work or sports.
Cittadino – I have talked about running some education lacrosse clinics/camps for years now but have never run one on my own. This year I plan to run a bunch in the Charlotte area to help the lacrosse community improve their game.
Ragonese – Just to keep keeping it real.
Cinosky – Take the Hounds to the playoffs.
Pages – To be the best I can be in anything I do.
Danowski – Nothing hard and fast, but something along the lines of going to church more and doing more yoga.
Berger – Be in better shape than I was in last year and give back to my family and the community.
From everyone in the Charlotte Hounds organization, thank you for your support in 2012! Enjoy the holidays and have a happy New Year!
