The Charlotte Hounds offseason is officially underway, as the Major League Lacrosse roster freeze period has ended, effective Sept. 1. Player trades may now resume between the eight teams, and Hounds GM Wade Leaphart expects to be fielding plenty of calls over the next few months.
On Sept. 19, all MLL teams must submit their 23-man protected rosters for 2015. All players not protected will be released into the MLL Player Pool until the next applicable draft. Player trades can continue throughout this period.
Registration for the 2015 MLL player pool is currently open. Players do not need to register for the pool if they appeared on any team roster in 2014. NCAA student-athletes who have collegiate eligibility remaining cannot apply for the player pool. Please
visit Draft Central at majorleaguelacross.com to register for the 2015 player pool.
The 2015 MLL Supplemental Draft, to be held in December, will give teams the opportunity to build out their 23-man protected rosters to a 40-man preseason roster. The Hounds will have the first pick in the Supplemental Draft and will retain the first position in the Waiver Wire following the draft.
The final opportunity for the Hounds to build out their roster will be the 2015 MLL Collegiate Draft, which takes place on Friday, Jan. 23 as part of the US Lacrosse National Convention in Baltimore. Collegiate draftees are eligible to join MLL teams as soon as their schools have been eliminated from postseason competition.
MLL training camps will begin in late March, with a 25-man active roster and 6-man practice squad to be determined the week before the first games are played. The MLL season will commence in mid-April. To order Hounds tickets call 704-206-1515 or visit
